floWolf at Appian World 2025
floWolf in the spotlight at Appian World 2025: Insights and Takeaways
Appian World 2025 in Denver was more than just a tech event—it was a bold vision of where enterprise automation and actionable AI are heading.
The spotlight this year was clearly on Business Orchestration and Automation Technologies (BOAT): a new category of enterprise platforms that go beyond traditional low-code or integration tools, delivering intelligent, end-to-end orchestration across data, systems and people.
This was my sixth Appian World, but the first representing floWolf—and it couldn’t have come at a more exciting time. Appian is clearly entering a new era of innovation and momentum, and witnessing this shift from the perspective of our own venture made the experience even more meaningful.
At floWolf, we left Denver energized by the possibilities ahead—driven by a platform that continues to evolve and expand the boundaries of what’s possible in enterprise automation.
Appian keeps leading this evolution by seamlessly combining process automation, data unification and AI into one cohesive platform. And we’re more convinced than ever: this is the foundation for the next decade of hyper-automation and human-centric autonomous enterprises.
Let’s now dive into the key announcements and strategic takeaways that defined Appian World 2025.

🎤 A New Chapter Begins: Matt Calkins Sets the Vision
The opening keynote by Matt Calkins, Appian’s CEO, marked a defining moment for the platform’s future. His energy on stage was striking—this was clearly the most passionate and forward-looking keynote we’ve seen in recent years. And for good reason: Appian is entering a new phase of rapid innovation and enterprise impact.

Matt structured his vision around three core capabilities that define Appian’s value: Think, Act, and Learn—a simple yet powerful framework that reflects how intelligent enterprises operate today.
- Think represents the strategic layer of data-driven decision-making. At the heart of this is Appian’s Data Fabric, now the fastest-growing capability in the platform. It unifies enterprise data into a single, secure and dynamic model—eliminating silos and enabling contextual intelligence across every process.
- Act is where Appian has always excelled: orchestrating people, systems, and workflows. This year, the introduction of Process Composer took that to a whole new level—generating entire applications, including data models and workflows, using a conversational interface and best-practice templates. Appian is turning design into action faster than ever.
- Learn brings AI into the flow of work—where it can observe, adapt and improve continuously. Here, Appian introduced a host of new innovations that reimagine automation with intelligence:
- Agentic AI and the Agent Studio, enabling the creation of autonomous agents that collaborate and execute tasks across systems.
- The evolution of RPA with AI capabilities, extending intelligent automation across both structured and unstructured tasks.
- And Process HQ, Appian’s process mining solution, now enhanced to deliver real-time operational intelligence and continuous improvement feedback loops.
Matt’s message was clear: Appian is no longer just a low-code automation platform. It’s a complete orchestration engine—built to think, act and learn in real time.
And perhaps his most powerful insight: “AI is more powerful in a process.”
A reminder that the real value of AI doesn’t come from isolated models—but from being embedded where decisions are made, where context exists, and where outcomes truly matter.
🚀 Intelligent Automation, Reinvented
One of the defining themes of Appian World 2025 was how automation is being reimagined—moving from isolated efficiencies to intelligent, end-to-end orchestration driven by data and AI. Appian didn’t just talk about innovation; it showed it in action.
With a strong focus on usability, scalability, and speed, the platform’s latest capabilities make it easier than ever to build sophisticated enterprise applications—with less effort, and greater impact. The message was clear: Appian is not only keeping pace with the AI era—it’s shaping it.
Key Product Innovations
Among the most exciting product announcements were tools and features that seamlessly integrate data, processes, and AI, creating a unified platform for true business orchestration.
- Agentic AI & Agent Studio
Appian unveiled a groundbreaking approach to AI-driven automation with Agentic AI—intelligent agents that autonomously handle complex tasks across business processes. The new Agent Studio empowers users to design and manage these AI agents in a visual, controlled environment. This brings real-time decision-making and proactive actions directly into workflows, making automation smarter and more agile. - Process Composer
The Process Composer is a game-changer for building complete applications from scratch. This tool allows users to create workflows from data models to processes through an intuitive, conversational interface. Best practice templates ensure that users can quickly build scalable, efficient solutions, significantly accelerating development cycles and minimizing the technical barrier to entry. - AI Skill Designer
Appian’s new AI Skill Designer gives businesses the power to build custom machine learning models using their own data, with no need for specialized data science expertise. This low-code tool opens the door for unique AI-driven solutions that are finely tuned to business needs, enabling organizations to leverage artificial intelligence in a completely personalized way. - Agility Layer
The introduction of the Agility Layer highlights Appian’s strength in seamlessly integrating with legacy systems like SAP, offering businesses the flexibility to rapidly adapt and accelerate processes. This layer acts as a bridge for organizations migrating to S/4HANA, ensuring that critical processes are not only streamlined but also future-proofed.
🌟 Innovation Showcases: Real-World Impact at Scale
Appian World 2025 wasn’t just a platform for announcing innovations; it was also a showcase of how leading organizations are applying these technologies to transform their operations and services.
- NASA presented its Explore Procurement platform, an all-encompassing solution that has optimized its procurement processes, improving efficiency and traceability at every step.
- MagMutual, a leading insurance provider, shared how it has transformed policy and client management, streamlining workflows and enhancing the end-user experience.
- AVIVA, with over 35 million customers worldwide, demonstrated how it has optimized all of its customer service processes, from claim management to customer interaction, leveraging the Appian platform to provide a faster and more personalized service.
- Towerbank, represented by Gabriel Campa, Head of Digital Assets, showcased its innovative crypto core banking platform, which is starting to integrate AI capabilities to deliver smarter and more secure financial services.
These use cases are just a glimpse of the tangible impact Appian is having across industries, showing how intelligent automation and AI are transforming complex processes into agile, effective solutions.
🤝 Networking, Fun, and Community: Beyond the Sessions
While Appian World 2025 was packed with cutting-edge innovations and insightful keynotes, it was also an incredible opportunity to connect with the vibrant Appian community in a more relaxed, social setting.
One of the standout moments was the Baseball Game at Coors Field, home of the Denver Rockies. It was the perfect backdrop for forging new connections, enjoying great conversations, and building stronger relationships—all while taking in a classic American pastime.

But of course, the Appian Party stole the show as the ultimate social highlight of the event. Held at the Wings Over the Rockies Air & Space Museum, the venue was filled with aviation history, including the iconic F-14 fighter jet (the one from Top Gun!), the impressive B-51 bomber or the spectacular F-1040 Starfighter. But the real action was on the dance floor!

The live band was absolutely incredible, playing everything from the infectious Mr. Brightside by The Killers to the all-time classic Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen. The energy reached its peak during Bohemian Rhapsody, which was the band’s final song of the night. The crowd absolutely lit up, singing along with so much passion and energy that it felt like the perfect farewell to an unforgettable evening.
The food and drink options were equally spectacular. With international flavors from different parts of the world, guests were treated to a mouthwatering selection that kept everyone fueled for the night. And let’s not forget the fusion cocktails—which, let’s be honest, might have been the true secret behind getting nearly everyone on their feet! After a couple of those, even the most reserved attendees couldn’t resist hitting the dance floor.
It was a night to remember, blending great music, delicious food and even better company. The Appian Party reminded us that, beyond the tech, the true magic of Appian lies in its people and the connections made there will keep us inspired as we look ahead to what’s next.
